MHED LLC designed and installed the largest Hybrid OR suite structure at Duke University Medical Center in collaboration with Perkins Eastman Architects, Berchtold Corporation, Philips and Skanska.
The project consisted of four Cardiovascular OR and one Hybrid OR suite in the existing facility adjacent to thirty OR’s. The structures were built in five weeks. The Hybrid suite dimensions are 23’ long x 20’ wide with a 13’ vertical drop around an existing 7’ wide catwalk and existing MEP that made the installations a major challenge.
The Hybrid OR Suite has seven Berchtold Booms and a Philips Allura FD 20 C-Arm. The new OR’s and Hybrid Suite opened in March 2010.
